I own a small repair shop. Is Service Magic right for me?
Service Magic was designed for the small to mid-size repair shop that want to effectly automate their back-office operations. Service Magic will successfully help you track and manage each and every repair order and to maximze your warranty filing process.

If my shop grows, will Service Magic grow with me?
Yes it will. The same base units can be expanded from a single user to a network user configuration hosting as many as 30-40 workstations.

Does Service Magic run under Windows 98/NT/2000/XP?
Yes. Service Magic is designed to run under Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6, Windows 2000 and Windows XP as a single user machine or as part of a network configuration.

I have only one PC in my shop, can I still use Service Magic?
You can use Service Magic as a single user or in a network environment. You have access all the same back-office, repair bench functionality as a network PC.

What kind of database does Service Magic use?
Service Magic supports Microsoft SQL Server 2000 for over 10 users, MSDE - Microsoft Desktop Engine (a free version of MSSQL Server for under 10 users), and Oracle 8.x.

Can I import data from my existing software?
GroupSouth has converted many software packages (Serviceware, Sm2001, Storetrack SBS direct. If your current program has export capability and can export to ASCII delimited, Excel, dBase or Access your data can be imported into Service Magic. To make sure a conversion can be done, contact us for a full evaluation.

I have inventory on my service trucks. Can Service Magic track my truck inventories?
Yes, in Service Magic you can create multiple inventory locations each with their own list of parts. In the case of service trucks, each truck would be set up as an inventory location. This feature not only allows you to track the truck inventory, but also manage your truck inventory. You can determine parts usage on a truck by truck basis. You should be able to complete more service calls on the first trip by increasing the quantity of fast moving parts. Fewer out-of-stocks mean that your technicians generate more revenue. You can also save money by removing slow/no moving parts from a truck.

Can the software help me know when to reorder mechandise?
Yes, by setting up Minamum and maxamum level and reorder qty. Then with a click of a button you will know what parts and how many to order.

Can I apply custom tax sets, or design my own tax sets?
Yes, Service Magic has the ability to setup taxes from Federal requirements all the way down to your local county level. Service Magic can even handle desposial or special taxes to inventory items.

My shop does a lot of warranty service. Can Service Magic help me file my claims?
Service Magic can help you file and manage your warranty receivables. There is no need to rekey customer, equipment, or work order detail information into another program for filing. Service Magic uses the information you have already entered to file claims. Currently Service Magic can file warranty claims electronically to Key Prestige, Wood Technologies, and Sony and we are always expanding that list. Service Magic can also print to industry standard forms such as NARDA, NESDA, and CEASA. If your have a manufacturer's claim form that we do not currently support, let us know and we may be able to incorporate the claim form in future updates.
